Housing

Safe, affordable housing isn’t just a policy goal for Angela—it’s a personal mission. She believes every Detroiter deserves a stable place to call home, and she’s never backed down from fighting for that right. One of her fiercest battles has been seeking justice for residents who were overtaxed by more than $600 million between 2010 and 2016. Angela has relentlessly demanded that the city right this historic wrong and return what is owed to the people. She champions bold policies to prevent displacement, help families become homeowners, and expand access to quality, affordable housing in every neighborhood. Through her leadership, more housing units have come online by supporting "Mom & Pop" landlords with lead encapsulation—keeping homes safe and helping small property owners stay in compliance. For Angela, housing justice is community justice. And she’s just getting started.

Neighborhoods

Angela believes that safe, vibrant neighborhoods are the foundation of a prosperous and equitable Detroit. That’s why she is deeply committed to delivering on the essentials—by improving city services, advocating for infrastructure upgrades, and ensuring each neighborhood receives the investments it needs to thrive. Her leadership has supported expanded blight removal programs, enhanced street lighting, traffic calming measures, and improved alley maintenance—because she knows that these quality-of-life improvements directly impact safety, wellness, and pride. Angela also champions equitable budget allocations that prioritize historically underserved areas. She fights for funding for public parks, community centers, and housing stabilization programs—including lead abatement support and code compliance assistance for longtime homeowners and small-scale landlords. Her approach strengthens the fabric of neighborhoods while keeping Detroiters in their homes.

Economic Opportunities

When it comes to economic opportunity, Angela knows Detroit’s future depends on investing in its people and neighborhoods. She’s a strong advocate for job training programs, workforce development, and entrepreneurial support—because building a thriving local economy starts with making sure Detroiters have access to the tools they need to succeed. Her focus is on equity: ensuring that economic growth isn’t reserved for the few, but reaches every corner of the city. Angela actively champions commercial corridor revitalization and pushes for policies that make it easier for small businesses to grow and thrive. She’s especially committed to ensuring Detroit-based, minority-owned businesses can access city contracts, capital, and grants. Through collaborative leadership, Angela bridges the gap between residents and resources—connecting communities to the opportunities that strengthen every block, drive sustainable growth, and build a Detroit where everyone has the chance to prosper.
